Juliette van Beek is a doctoral student involved in the SURREAL (Systems approach of urban environments and health) project, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) action.
She is a Human Movement Sciences graduate from the University in Groningen. During her studies, she developed an interest in preventive healthcare, focussing on health promotion and disease prevention in patient populations with low socioeconomic status. She believes that persistent health gains could to be made by enhancing people's living environment, including both social and physical enviromental aspects, rather than implementing temporal health interventions.
