Personal profile

Research summary

Since October 2019 I am a ‘Research Associate’ in the cross-departmental Research Programme 'Health and Health Systems’  which seeks to coordinate, develop and contribute to the health-related work carried out within and across any of the three departments of LISER. I received my Phd from the Universit of East Anglia in April 2017. Before coming to LISER, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the 'Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology - BIPS' in Bremen, Germany.

My research focuses on the relationship between health, in particular diabetes and other chronic diseases, and economic outcomes and health behaviours. I mainly use econometric techniques to establish causal relationships when using observational data. Nonetheless, I also have experience in field research. I work and have worked on projects in high-income countries—in particular Germany—as well as middle-income countries, such as Mexico, China and Indonesia. I have published in journals such as Social Science and Medicine, Economics and Human Biology and PharmacoEconomics. I am currently involved in several projects including a project assessing the impact of heat and air pollution on  labour market outcomes and health expenditures,  a project reviewing the evidence on the effectiveness of financial incentives to increase physcial activity in workplace wellness programs, and a project evaluating the effectiveness of peer education to improve diabetes outcomes in Banda Aceh, Indonesia.
