COVID-19 and Gender Equality in Luxembourg

Project Details

Description

This project investigates the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on gender inequalities in Luxembourg. The objective is to analyse its main effects on individual outcomes while also exploring changes in behaviour. For this, we will deploy a rich methodological toolset and cover various domains:
We will start by analyzing several components of individual well-being, such as health, income, life conditions, employment, social activities. The effects of the crisis on behavior and preferences are not only influenced by socioeconomic conditions, but also by culture and prevalent norms.
We will study attitudes towards health policies such as social distancing (mask-wearing, hand-washing, physical distancing), testing and vaccination. We will investigate a wide range of factors (personality traits, attitude to risk, media exposure), which influence compliance to these policies and measures. Finally, we will also study the impact of information campaign on self-reported compliance through a survey experiment, allowing us to identify whether gender and other characteristics is associated with more positive responses to such information.
