Project Details

Description

FORFUS (“Forest function under stress”) is a doctoral training unit coordinated by LIST and co-hosted by Uni.lu and LISER. It will combine 14 doctoral candidates and one postdoc in 4 strongly inter-linked research clusters, focusing on below-ground processes, tree and canopy processes, remote sensing observations, and prediction and valuation of forest functions. To address current and future threats to forest ecosystem health, FORFUS aims to deliver groundbreaking multidisciplinary training to the next generation of forest researchers and managers by bringing together leading scientists from different disciplines involved in forest research and including national and international stakeholders from the start. The broad involvement of national and international stakeholders and researchers (from 8 national and 15 international groups and institutions) will ensure that the research and training is of high societal and academic relevance in Luxembourg and beyond.
