Mobility Trajectories and Biographies: A Valuable Hybridization

This chapter provides a modest overview of the trends linked to mobility biographies or trajectories, mainly in relation to modal choices and their possible changes. It addresses definitions of the life course and the longitudinal approach, and looks at the contributions of measurements of the different temporalities and events. The multidimensionality in mobility trajectories and biographies has given rise to a very rich thematic opportunity in terms of interdependent trajectories, in areas as different as subjective well-being, energy or new technologies. The chapter develops a multidimensional overview of the biographical aspects. It focuses on the links and interdependencies that exist between mobility biographies and other fields of biographical pathways (residential mobility, transition to adult life, and so on). Mobility biographies and trajectories reveal potential applications in public policy.
