Intérêts de recherche
Dr. Nizamul Islam studied at the School of Economics and Commercial Law, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, where he obtained his doctorate (2006) in economics. At the University of Gothenburg, Dr. Nizamul also served as a research fellow (2006-2007) and worked with a model of the fuel market that needs to have both a demand equation and a tax setting equation. Since 2007, he has been a researcher at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio Economic Research (LISER). He specializes in behavioral Micro simulation, and has expertise in Discrete Choice Labor supply model, Optimal Taxation, Poverty dynamics. Since 2019, he has been country (Luxembourg) coordinator of Tax-benefit microsimulation model for the European Union (EUROMOD). Dr. Nizamul has been a Visiting Research Fellow at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) for 2017-2020. He has particular expertise in software programming and econometric computing for model analysis. Jointly with Professor Lennart Flood, he has developed a behavioral microsimulation model for Luxembourg ’LuxTaxBen’. His publication record includes Economic modelling, Empirical economics, Economic letters, Applied Economics Letters, The Japanese Economic Review, Brussels economic review, and International journal of micro-simulation.
