Résumé
The scope of the chapter is to investigate the resilience of an Italian diasporic area in the course of the metropolitan process over the past 40 years. The area is located in a cross-border, urban basin in-between France and Luxembourg. The research focuses on the Italian film festival of Villerupt as an element of this spatial resilience. It is further based on the concepts of translocality and scapes proposed by Appadurai, which can help grasp the organization of cultural flows across state borders. The Villerupt festival is presented as a response to the challenges facing the diasporic space and also as a property of this diasporic space to sustain itself in times of change. These changes have not only affected the economic resources of this diaspora, but also an ensemble of cultural parameters beyond state borders and at different scales.
