Résumé

This study investigates the impact of local employment-focused development aid projects on migration decisions in Senegal, both internal and international. While development aid is often viewed as a tool to address the root causes of migration, its actual effect remains unclear due to challenges such as a lack of spatially detailed data and the complexity of migration patterns. Using detailed datasets on development aid and migration flows, this study examines the role of employment-related aid projects in shaping migration decisions, particularly for young adults. The findings suggest that exposure to such aid reduces the likelihood of internal migration, highlighting the potential for targeted aid to influence migration behavior.
