D8.7 SUNRISE Impact and Sustainability Report presents the final outcomes of the project's systematic impact evaluation framework, encompassing assessments across social, economic, environmental, and scientific domains. This document builds upon the evaluation methodology established in D8.4 SUNRISE Impacts and Sustainability V1 [7] and the empirical findings documented in D8.5 Report on Impact Generation Activities V2 [8]. The present deliverable constitutes the final impact evaluation report and includes the project's sustainability roadmap. The analysis focusses on activities conducted during the period from M19 to M36.
The primary contributions of this deliverable comprise three key components: (i) an overview of the applied impact assessment strategy, (ii) evaluation analysis across four distinct domains, and (iii) presentation of the sustainability roadmap for consortium partners engaged in tool development and testing.
Regarding strategy formulation (i), this report presents a refined holistic evaluation approach based on an iterative impact assessment methodology. This framework provides systematic input to WP4-WP7 and informs the project's collaboration activities, strategic planning, and design optimisation processes (WP1-WP3).
From the impact assessment analysis perspective (ii), the deliverable presents comprehensive evaluation results based on established assessment criteria through systematic examination of stakeholder perspectives regarding SUNRISE-generated impacts. The evaluation methodology compares pre-implementation projections with post-piloting phase outcomes, providing analytical depth through measurement of impacts both before and after the tool development testing phase. Each toolset undergoes individual analysis, with impact criteria specifically tailored for each tool to enhance assessment precision. The scientific domain employs a distinct analytical approach due to its specialized set of impact measurement indicators. For social impact assessment, the evaluation generated recommendations for tool developers and critical infrastructure end-users to enhance the ethical, equitable, and safety dimensions of SUNRISE solutions. From an economic perspective, the impact analysis facilitates more sustainable operations and ensures service continuity. Environmental impact assessment supports the transition toward climate-friendly practices across European infrastructure sectors. Concurrently, rigorous scientific impact measurement evaluates advancement in state-of-the-art capabilities across and within disciplines, promotes dissemination of SUNRISE solutions, and establishes enhanced connectivity between security research and social sciences and humanities disciplines.
The sustainability roadmap (iii) synthesises impact evaluation findings identified within the scope of exploitation and collaboration activities, providing evidence-based guidelines for solution adopters and tool development partners. These guidelines aim to maximise the advantages of SUNRISE toolsets and ensure benefit persistence beyond project completion. The results presented in this deliverable contribute to achieving the overarching objective of delivering sustainable solutions and enhancing the resilience of Europe's critical infrastructures.
The integration of these three components serves a critical function by providing comprehensive evaluation of the project's impact-generation activities. This impact analysis not only defines project success metrics but also establishes the foundation for SUNRISE solution viability following project completion.
