Résumé
Key feature of EU-SILC is output harmonisation. This gives national statistical institutes flexibility of implementation at the national level, with variation in data collection methods, coupled with systematic monitoring of data quality and the degree of comparability within and across countries. Countries implementing the EU?SILC surveys are split between 'register countries' and 'survey countries'. This chapter reviews the use of registers in combination with interviews in EU-SILC. It is based on the contributions from the international Workshop on the Use of Registers in the Context of EU-SILC held in December 2012 in Vienna (Jäntti, Törmälehto and Marlier, 2013).
