Abstract
The increasing availability of high-resolution and multispectral satellite imagery has necessitated rapid developments in the field of automated image data analysis and, consequently, the emergence on the market of specialised software designed for automatic image segmentation and classification. Undoubtedly leading among these programmes is the eCognition product (Trimble Geospatial).
