Spatial policy and passenger transportation

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

With regard to passenger transportation, spatial planning and infrastructure policy are increasingly called to collaborate in setting the course for future developments in the Netherlands. The latest development vision was formulated in the Fourth Report (VINO) and its sequel (VINEX). This article considers the spatial policy formulated in these reports noting the changes that have been made in that policy over the decade. This is followed by a description of the way policy has developed. The second part of this article explores the relative impact of urbanization policy and autonomous developments. The discussion concludes by pointing out ways to make spatial policy for passenger traffic and transportation more effective.
